ANNEX VII
A. Technical documentation for machinery

This part describes the procedure for drawing up the technical documentation. With reference to the technical file, it must be possible to assess the conformity of the machinery with the requirements of this directive. It must, as far as is relevant for such assessment, cover the design, construction, and operation of the machinery. This documentation must be written in one or more community languages, except for the instructions for the machinery, which are subject to the special provisions set out in section 1.7.4.1 of Annex I.

1 The technical documentation includes:
a) a technical documentation containing the following information or documents:

  • a general description of the machine,
  • a general layout drawing of the machine and the circuit diagrams of the control circuits, together with descriptions and explanations necessary for understanding the operation of the machine,
  • full detailed drawings, accompanied where appropriate by calculations, test results, certificates, etc., required to check the conformity of the machine with the essential health and safety requirements,
  • the risk assessment documents indicating which procedure has been followed; this includes:
  • a list of the essential health and safety requirements which apply to the machine,
  • a description of the protective measures taken to avoid identified hazards or to reduce risks and, where appropriate, an indication of the residual risks arising from the machine,
  • the standards and other technical specifications applied, indicating the essential health and safety requirements covered by these standards,
  • any technical report giving the results of the tests carried out by the manufacturer themselves or by a body chosen by the manufacturer or their authorized representative,
  • a copy of the instruction handbook of the machine,
  • where appropriate, the declaration of installation for incomplete machines and the assembly instructions for such incomplete machines,
  • where appropriate, a copy of the EC declaration of conformity for other machines or products incorporated into the machine,
  • a copy of the EC declaration of conformity;
  1. b) for series manufacture, a statement of the internal measures taken to ensure that all the machines manufactured conform to the provisions of this directive.

The manufacturer must carry out the appropriate inspections and tests on the components and accessories of the machine or the complete machine to check that the design or construction of the machine allows it to be assembled and put into service safely. The relevant reports and results shall be included in the technical documentation.
